Our Founders

David J. Byrnes and Stanley C. Phillips founded FACTS during the 1986-87 school year. In June, 2005 FACTS became part of Nelnet (www.nelnet.com). Today, we are the largest third-party provider of tuition payment plans in the industry. The number of institutions, families, and students served exceeds that of our competitors by a significant margin. Best of all, we serve all institutions, large and small, with the same award-winning customer service that has been our hallmark for so many years. This is reflected in our annual customer retention rate of nearly 99%.

Our commitment to the principles and goals identified in our mission statement and our strict adherence to "doing things right" has enabled us to assume the leadership position in the tuition management industry. As our mission statement indicates, we are dedicated to serving educational institutions of all types.

 

David Byrnes

David Byrnes is co-founder of FACTS Management Company, now Nelnet Business Solutions. Starting from service to a single school, the company has grown to become the largest tuition management provider, serving nearly 5,000 schools across the country. Mr. Byrnes has published articles and given hundreds of presentations on the business side of running a school. He also serves on the board of a large private high school in Massachusetts, the board of a private college in Illinois, and has been recognized by the University of Nebraska College of Business Administration for his work serving private and faith-based schools nationwide.

Stan Phillips

Stan Phillips was co-founder and served as part of the company since its inception as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer until the merger with Nelnet. He was involved in the start of other companies in addition to FACTS and is now involved in a number of Christian ministries.
