As most schools transition to distance and online learning, teachers are looking for creative ways to evaluate and assess student mastery. Through alternative assessments and differentiation, teachers can meet the needs of diverse learners. In this presentation,”Meeting the Needs of All Learners Using Alternative Assessments,” Marcey Ayers will share best practices and resources for K-12 alternative assessments, how to differentiate using online tools and platforms, strategies for meeting the needs of all learners, and guidance for at-home support to ensure success of diverse learners.

Marcey Ayers is the director of special programs for the Archdiocese of Miami. She graduated from Clemson University with an undergraduate degree and received her master’s degree from the University of Miami in Education. She has spent more than 20 years educating students, teachers, and administration in various areas of special education and has previously taught in public, private, and Catholic institutions.

Marcey has worked with students from Pre-K through college and in different settings such as inclusive, resource, and self‐contained. Marcey works closely with parents and schools assisting with educational placement and consulting. Additionally, Marcey presents nationally to teachers and administrators on various topics in special education, growth mindset, social emotional learning, and differentiated instruction.
