K-3 Phonics

Teachers who serve primary grade students increase student achievement in reading by using a systematic approach to unlocking phonics. We work through strategies for both decoding and encoding while at the same time encourage teachers to create an atmosphere of structure, purpose, and effectiveness that will benefit students working at all levels. We explore general strategies that enhance instruction overall while fostering a safe, respectful learning environment where teachers have planned effectively, are knowledgeable of each student’s strengths and weaknesses, exhibit a commitment to student growth, manage classroom routines, implement research-based learning activities, and provide specific feedback on student performance.
