An effective English/Language Arts teacher takes into account all aspects of the field – Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language. We will work with teachers to ensure that planning based on standards-based objectives and includes higher-order thinking questions, a variety of activities for both individual practice and collaborative practice, and purposeful assessments. We will help teachers create positive learning environments where students respect the expectations and norms of the classroom and actively engage with material throughout lessons. Teachers will be encouraged to track student progress, make modifications when necessary, and give constructive feedback on assignments.
